JUNEAU
the grinding of the anchor cable,
Juneau in morning fog—
each hour has its seasons
I stand overlooking
the docks,
wondering
have I been too ensnared
by images, too enamored
of the shifting moon
the gray water, the gray air—
a film noir waterfront,
a study of tonalities,
of the edge of what we can’t have
the grinding of the anchor cable,
Juneau in the fog–
my thoughts are loaded
onto many boats
