Stargazing

This dusty old telescope from Goodwill

could turn out to be a portal

to another life,

the one with you … one with you.

Balmy summer nights,

VW bus in the mountains.

Neither of us know exactly

what we are looking at,

but we know it means something …

means something.

You and me and

the moon and stars,

dancing with fireflies,

locking our emotions

tightly away in a mason jar.

but so damn far.
