Somerville High School students joined Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan at a recent screening at the Woburn Showcase Cinemas hosted by Middlesex Partnerships for Youth (MPY), featuring videos/PSAs titled Teen Dating A to Generation Z: A Guide to Going Out, Breaking Up and Everything in Between.

SHS students were featured in the video series, which was designed to help viewers understand teen dating in a modern world. The videos were produced by Vera Ventura, Media and TV teacher at SHS and Next Wave/Full Circle, and were directed by Joseph Sousa. MPY created the video series as a resource for students, educators and school staff. Throughout the series, you hear from teens themselves discussing dating issues such as controlling behaviors, media influences, sexting, active by-standing, and breaking up. The videos are intended to debunk myths about dating abuse and help teens find the courage to speak up for each other, seek help if they are in an abusive relationship, understand the consequences of sexting, and be confident while navigating the complicated world of dating.
