Table leg used in Somerville gang fight

Police broke up an afternoon gang fight on Broadway Sept. 2 that involved a belt buckle, a knife and a metal table leg.

Yonny Posada, 30, of Everett, allegedly ran across the street at Oscar Ramirez, 18, of 50 Marshall St., throwing gang signs and calling him names. Posada had his belt wrapped around his hand and tried to hit Ramirez who moved out of the way, police said.

Ramirez allegedly told police that Posada is a member of the 18th Street gang.

Somerville police officer Henry Diaz was driving on Broadway when he saw three men facing off as if they were going to fight, police said. Patrick Janeiro, 20, of 3 Walter Terrace, was holding a metal table leg in a fighting manner against Posada, who had a belt with a silver buckle wrapped around his fist, police said.

Ramirez and Janiero told officers they were carrying weapons for protection, police said.

Ramirez was arrested and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon. Posada, also known as Yonny Rodrigues, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Janiero was arrested and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon and warrant charges.
