Ward 1 Alderman Matthew McLaughlin sponsored a resolution at the latest regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen last Thursday asking the administration to consider renaming Otis Park to Deanna Cremin Park.
In speaking for the resolution, McLaughlin said, “We discovered that Otis Park is not named after anyone, it is named after the street, basically. So I would love to see this happen.”
McLaughlin invited Jesse Clingan to address the Board on the proposed name change.
“Basically, I’m just looking for support for the renaming of this park. We want a positive place to honor Deanna’s memory and who she was,” Clingan told the Board. “She spent a lot of time at that park, and I just think it’s a perfect fit. I just want to stress that this isn’t going to be a place of mourning. This is what Deanna was all about. She was a free spirit. She was a very loving person.”
Clingan said that he has received much support from members of the community for this change in the name of the park.
The Board approved the resolution unanimously.
Yes!
Thank for for your efforts in this regard. This is a wonderful and positive way to keep Deanna in our thoughts and prayers.
