SHS Building Committee meetings, public forums continue

One of six alternative possibilities for a new high school rebuild or renovation project.

Make your voice heard as the City of Somerville considers options for the future of Somerville High School! The Somerville High School Building Committee (SBS) invites all interested residents to upcoming meetings to learn more about options for future plans for Somerville High School, and share their comments. Meetings will include opportunities for question and answer, general discussion, and feedback. Additionally, residents are encouraged to visit the SBC website, www.somervillema.gov/highschool, and share feedback on each of the remaining proposed options for the future high school. Remaining public meetings are as follows:

  • Mon., March 28, 5:30 p.m., West Somerville Neighborhood School, 177 Powder House Blvd.

o   SBC Regular Meeting. SBC Business will be followed by open Q&A.

  • Wed., March 30, 2:45 p.m., Somerville High School Auditorium, 81 Highland Ave.

o   A meeting specifically for Somerville youth to learn about the future of their school.

  • Tues., April 5, 6:30 p.m., East Somerville Community School Library, 50 Cross St.

o    Public Forum with presentations in English, Haitian Creole, Spanish, and Portuguese (translation for other languages available upon request),

  • Mon., April 11, 5:30 p.m., Healey School Library, 5 Meacham St.

o   SBC Regular Meeting. SBC Business will be followed by open Q&A.

  • Tues., April 26, 6:30 p.m., Somerville High School Auditorium, 81 Highland Ave.

o   Public Forum. A presentation by SBC members along with community discussion.

    This is exciting stuff, I just wish it would be completed before my oldest starts which is not likely. Good to see the city making the investment though, make it big because enrollments are climbing fast!
