Calling all wellness-related businesses to participate!
Mayor Curtatone invites you to participate in The Seventh Annual Mayor’s Wellness Challenge.
The Mayor’s Wellness Challenge is designed to encourage community members of all ages to try out new wellness behaviors. One of our goals during the Challenge is to connect Somerville residents to local activities and businesses that support wellness.
This year we are focusing on behaviors that incorporate our 9-5-2-1-0 messaging: 9 hours of sleep (8-10 for children, 7-9 for adults), 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of recreational screen time, 1 hour of physical activity, 0 sugary drinks and tobacco products.
The Mayor’s Wellness Challenge is a great opportunity to showcase how your business promotes wellness. We’re engaging more residents, students and families to participate and anticipate a large audience for your business.
How your Business or Organization can participate:
- Participate in the Kick-Off event on Sunday, April 24th, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Somerville High School Field House by:
- Hosting an interactive or informational table
- Leading a 15-minute demonstration (you can do both!)
- Showcase your business during the challenge by:
- Appearing on the Mayor’s Wellness Bucks by offering a discounted class or item at your business. Participants can redeem your offer using the Wellness Bucks.
- Hosting a discounted event at your business. Pick a day that works for you!
- Donating a prize for the challenge winners
In addition to the above, as space allows, we would like to inform residents of your business’s wellness offerings during the Challenge on our social media sites. Please provide us some details about your business and how it supports wellness. For additional exposure, we are offering the opportunity for businesses to highlight their expertise and contribute a wellness-related informational post on our website.
If you would like to participate in this event or for more information about the Wellness Challenge please feel free to contact Lisa Robinson, Shape Up Somerville Director at lrobinson@somervillema.gov, 617-625-6600 x4312
