Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone wearing the green here in the city. Some of the Irish pubs around the city will be celebrating but the one place to be on St. Patrick’s Day is Sally O’Brien’s on Somerville Avenue. Great food, awesome people, good conversation, lots of laughs and live entertainment every night. We’re going to be there, are you? A blessed and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone. This is the 100th anniversary of the Easter Uprising against hundreds of years of English rule.

Those who might be interested in obtaining certification for firearms should look up the Lawrence Rod & Gun Club. They offer an extensive program at the end of which you receive certification for Massachusetts/NRA Certified Firearm Safety Classes. They run a class once a month, which is limited to 10 people and we hear that this is the place to go to learn safety when handling guns. Email gunclub@earthlink.net for more information and or go to their website at www.lawrencerodandgunclub.org and read up about the course.

The East Somerville Reunion is being planned for this coming June 25 at the Somerville City Club, across from Holiday Inn. They have a Facebook page set up to take reservations: East Somerville Reunion 2016. The first reunion was very successful, with well over a 100 people attending, and lots of old friendships were restarted. If you grew up in East Somerville in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s you should set aside the date and make your plans to attend. You won’t be disappointed. The reunion people are looking for financial support, so go to their Facebook page and help if you can. This is an exciting event, sort of like a High School reunion, but different age groups are coming together with one purpose: to celebrate their youth growing up in East Somerville. Many thanks to the committee for doing this, the second reunion.

Congratulations to The Norton Group who listed the property at 63 College Avenue and will close on the sale this week. So far the highest priced single family listed in Somerville. A very nice family from London with a famous name is moving into the area. They have been sighted many times recently walking around in the Davis Square area. We are truly a world-renowned city that attracts people from all over. Donald Norton was the list agent, and was also the listing agent back in 1981, listing the first single family to sell over $100K. 37 years in the business means experience counts.

How is “Citizen Serve” still working out, the idea and brain child brought to our city by Goran Smiljic head of Inspectional Services here in the city? How long have you waited for a permit? Oh, we hear it’s still months in some cases.

Funny how the Progressive Left expounds on free speech but they’re the first ones to close it down. This says something about our educational system doesn’t it?

Winter Hill Brewery is opening up within weeks at the building on Broadway between Winter Hill Bank and Winter Hill Post Office. And low and behold, across the street from the project on Winter Hill Broadway and Temple that is now finally going up. It looks like a good wind would blow it down, but it’s a beginning isn’t it? Now, if we could get the city to do something with the old Star Market site that would be great. It seems like the city is more concerned about Union Square and proposing a new high school instead of the now closed up vacant huge hole in Winter Hill.

We were watching the Alderman Hour on local access 22 and they were interviewing the new Ward 6 Alderman Lance Davis. Funny that they mentioned he was an attorney but didn’t say where…hmm. We thought he was employed by Oracle Corp. He’d be proud of that, guess not!
