From November 22–24, eight career and technical education students from Somerville High School attended the 2015 Fall State Leadership Conference in Marlborough, MA for SkillsUSA.

This organization’s focus is to “provide opportunities for members to develop individually and improve teamwork, leadership and professional skills through education, training, service and competition.”

The students were accompanied by three advisors from Somerville High School on the trip. The students were placed on teams and worked with alumni and students from other schools in numerous workshops, projects, and activities. Somerville students came home with numerous medals that included team and group awards.

The idea of this conference is to help students and their advisors bring back valuable information to their schools to build a stronger chapter. Students say that this trip helped them break out of their comfort zone and it was a great chance to meet new people.
