Can you spare your green thumb this Saturday? Before you stop by the#SquareFlair party at 2, join your neighbors around the city planting bulbs that will sprout in the spring.
Join the City of Somerville for the fifth annual Somerville Bulb Blitz on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon, and help prepare your neighborhood for a bright and colorful spring 2016! Residents are invited to join City staff to plant bulbs that will bloom in Spring 2016. Since the Bulb Blitz began in 2011, residents have planted more than 12,300 bulbs citywide! Participants should bring their own tools (bulb planters, shovels, hoes, gloves, etc.). To sign up, visit http://tinyurl.com/2015bulbblitz.
Then at 2 p.m. at City Hall concourse, enjoy some square-themed fun before we announce the winning square(s)! They’ll kick off with some refreshments (all square-shaped, of course), music, and games (chess, checkers, four square), and cap off the celebration with some good old fashioned Square Dancing (with professional caller!). The square(s) having received the most points during the week-long Square Flair Competition will be announced after the ceremonial unveiling of the 2015 All-America City banners along the concourse.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jackie Rossetti at JRossetti@somervillema.gov.
