Near the Window
They sit near the window on a small table
The English thyme taking off
And the Greek oregano holding strong
While the golden sage stretches toward
The marjoram its sweet form
Tangling with the sturdy — or should I say studly — rosemary
So tall in its black vase
And smallest yet in a pot like a giant’s thimble
Cuban oregano luminescent always in the morning light.
