Police were alerted to reports of a man punching cars on Broadway as they passed him last Friday evening.
Officers located the man, later identified as Edward Feeney, near 300 Broadway and approached him for questioning.
Feeney reportedly assumed a fighting stance and shouted aggressive comments about fighting with one of the officers.
Feeney was ordered to stop by backup officers who had arrived on the scene, but when he appeared to be uncooperative they began placing him in handcuffs, according to reports.
Police said that Feeney struggled and resisted their efforts to place him into handcuffs. After two or three minutes of struggling with Feeney, the officers eventually got him into the handcuffs. Feeney reportedly threatened the life of one of the officers, saying, “You will be dead in 253 seconds. I will make sure my brother kills you.”
Feeney was sat down on the curb while the prisoner transport unit made its way to the scene. At one point, Feeney reportedly struck out with his foot, kicking one of the officers in the shin, after which the officers restrained him by placing him on the ground.
Feeney was taken in for booking, charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer.
