We’re wondering how a certain alleged local media person can kick the crap out of the mayor one week, even calling him delusional, and then speculate on who’s advising him. Then we see the same person is holding a fundraiser for Mayor Curtatone at the Winter Hill Yacht club. He even advertises it in his so-called newspaper, with his name on the heading. FYI, we guess that same person’s family also owns almost all, if not all, of the property on Medford Street/McGrath (which they didn’t disclose) that was blocked off recently. There was a huge commotion in his so-called paper,  but we hear it’s going to be blocked off again in September by the state, not the city. Isn’t it strange how this “media person” – who has a shady past that some would consider criminal – bullies various individuals around the city who just happen to disagree with him or his family? We can’t understand why he kicks the crap out of the mayor one week and then throws a fundraiser for him the next, can you? We certainly don’t think Mayor Joe is delusional, and we think he’s capable of taking his own advice, good or bad. We will be watching who attends this fundraiser on the 19th, won’t you?

A new ice cream place is coming to Somerville, or at least they have applied for the proper licenses. Wednesday night (tonight) at the Zoning Board, a hearing to grant a special permit at 415 Medford Street will be held. They originate out of Medford, and name of the place is Tipping Cow Ice Cream. It has some very unusual flavors, and if you haven’t been there, well, hopefully they will have a store here in Somerville. They are planning on opening in a couple of months.

Annual Left-handers international Day is coming up this month, on August 13, so remember to wish your friendly left hander (south paw) a happy day. We (I mean they) even have a web site: www.lefthandersday.com. Go take a look, even though we (I mean they) are a minority, some pretty special people are left handers. No more being punished for being a left hander. We (I mean they) even think a good “left handed compliment” is in order, but you have to be left handed to give one. Remember, left handers may be left handed, but they are always right!

Happy Birthdays this week to some of our Villen friends as well as friends of The Times: First of all, a very special Happy Birthday to the Norton’s granddaughter, Kaitlin Norton-Harrison, who turns 21 this week. She will be a mother of “Irish twins” – two girls in the family. We wish her, her husband Jaleel and the whole family a great birthday. Happy birthday to Alan Laurentano, who grew up here in the Ville and still has many friends here. Happy birthday as well to Alicia Lafuente, who is the daughter of Alderman Tony. Alicia is a nice lady, always cheerful and happy. We wish her the very best as well. Old time Villen Chris Just, who lives in Ohio and now runs his own security firm, who still has a lot of friends here in Somerville area, also celebrates this week. One time candidate for State Rep., Nicholas Lanzilli is celebrating this week as well. We hope he has a great day. Our good friend from Buffalo, Brendan Cunningham is celebrating this week. A Happy birthday to Maria Mancini, a nice lady. To all the others we might have missed, we wish them all a happy birthday.

Just to follow up, we checked with City Hall to find out what has happened to the Director of Veterans Services. They refuse to comment on “personnel” matters. We’re wondering if a deal was made for him not to come back. We’re going to snoop around and find out from some of our sources.
