For the Somerville Alibrandis Yawkey League squad, the regular season couldn’t have ended on a higher note. Finishing the regular season with an impressive five game winning streak, the Alibrandis compiled an impressive 25-7-1 mark, while recording 51 points en route to a second place in the Bill Stewart Division. The Alibrandis couldn’t overtake the Malden Bulldogs, who earned the regular season title, with 52 points (26-7).

“We’re playing the best baseball right now of the season, and we’re heading into the playoffs on a great note,’’ said coach Rob McDonough. “I’ve been very pleased with the way everyone’s come together and we’ve been able to put together some great games. We have some momentum right now, and we’re hoping we can make some noise in the playoffs.”

In last Monday’s 11-1 win over the Savin Hill Hornets, the Albrandis overcame an early 1-0 deficit with a pair of runs in the second. After adding a run in the top of the fourth, the Alibrandis secured the victory with an eight run surge in the top of the seventh.

Offensively, the Alibrandis erupted for 16 hits while Sean Sullivan fired a complete game on the mound. At the plate, Pat Noble recorded four hits while recording two RBIs and scoring two runs while Ted Dziuba added two hits and two RBIs. Other key contributors included Anthony Tomaro and Dave Scioli with two hits apiece. Recording extra base hits were Noble, Dziuba and Tomaro, who each added a triple.

Closing out the regular season, the Alibrandis cruised to a 5-1 win over the McKay Club Beacons. Mired in a 1-1 tie through three innings, the Albrandis responded, scoring individual runs in the fourth, fifth sixth and seventh innings.

On the mound, Dave Fioretti earned the win, firing four innings of solid two-hit relief, walking two and striking out sixth. Offensively, George Whitener recorded three hits and two RBIs while Noble, Scioli and Driscoll and Mike Feetham each chipped in with two hits apiece. Also contributing was Matt Deeb, who added a hit and a run scored while Driscoll belted a home run.
