For all the people who missed their prom, the Somerville Arts Council will turn back the clock.
The arts council and the Center for Arts at the Armory are organizing the Art Prom, June 5 at 7 p.m.
"It's a playful take on prom, and a chance to rewrite your prom history," said Rachel Strutt, the council's program manager.
DJ Brother Cleve will spin classic prom songs from different genres of music including disco, new wave, classic rock, and hip-hop. Cleve said, "I'll look at the crowd and figure out when they went to their prom. I'll have over 40,000 songs."
He was certain he'd be playing Journey, Madonna, and even Lady Gaga. Between his sets, Thru the Keyhole Burlesque, dancers from Boston, will entertain the crowd.
Debra McLaughlin, from the Armory, said, "The ArtProm is an opportunity to have fun with an iconic tradition in American history." You'll want to dress for the occasion, trophies will be awarded to "Best Traditional Prom Dress," "Wackiest Cummerbund," and "Most Artsy Couple."
A make-your-own prom crown table, corsage making table, and a slide show of old prom photos will also be part of the night.
