Police were dispatched to a Summer St. residence last week on reports of an unwanted irate roommate.

Upon arrival, police were met by the reporting party, who reportedly only spoke Spanish. The officers called for an interpreter to come and assist them, and while waiting for the interpreter the alleged unwanted roommate, Juan Rodesno, came out of his bedroom and approached them, police said.

Rodesno reportedly made several attempts to grab the officers, and he was subsequently handcuffed for everyone’s safety and he was sat down in a chair.

Police reported that Rodesno rose from the chair several times, yelling at the officers. After several rounds of this, he was then placed face down on the floor.

After the police officer/interpreter arrived, several attempts were made to discuss the situation with Rodesno, but he reportedly flailed his arms and legs and continued too shout at the officers.

The barefooted Rodesno managed to kick one of the officers, at which time he was physically restrained so that he would not cause anyone injury.

With the aid of the Spanish-speaking officer, the responding officers learned that the reporting party called police because she was being bothered by Rodesno, who had been drinking heavily, according to her statements.

She reportedly explained that she had asked Rodesno to lower the volume of the music he was playing in his room, due to the lateness of the hour. She further stated that Rodesno reacted angrily and approached her in an aggressive manner, causing her to fear for her safety.

She then locked herself in her bedroom and called police. She said the while she waited for the police to arrive, Rodesno thrashed at her door in an attempt to get at her.

The officers noted that there were several empty beer cans on the floor in Rodesno’s room.

Rodesno was placed under arrest and charged with assault and battery on a police officer.
