Bruce Foley is a Somerville Poet now residing in Las Vegas. This Somerville High School graduate has never forgotten his roots. He writes The Somerville Times:
“I was born across the bridge from Boston, Massachusetts, in Cambridge, as July 4th fireworks exploded over the Charles River, just a stones throw from Harvard University. At age two, my family moved to Somerville, Ma.,where I was raised in a rough blue-collar environment; playing many sports. Somerville is my true home. A place where my fondest memories reside. ”
True Wealth
Open a book-
close a door, ten years
have come and gone,
Zen, is a lazy cat, winking,
a sparrow out of reach, just one
of many desires, everything
is mind, you wear
the hand-me-down burden
of your Western fathers,
keeping busy, never keeping still,
ambition kills a life of quiet;
true wealth, is a pocketful of time.
