Around 25-35 employees and customers of Somerville Avenue Market Basket demonstrated in front of store this past weekend. Cars passing by honked their horns in support of the crowd.

Activity in the parking lot has changed, with no need to travel in circles looking for a vacant space, when there are spaces everywhere.

Shelves in the store were quickly being emptied and there were no crowded aisles.

The demonstrators are all out in support of their fired CEO, Arthur T. Demoulas, who was let go recently by the company’s board of directors.

Meanwhile, Demoulas has submitted a buyout plan and on Monday night the board met to consider whether to except that offer or not.  Nothing was decided.

It is hoped that a settlement can be arrived at soon and the store’s employees can get back to work, and customers can get back to shopping.
