Salute to Gargoyle’s Chef (and reality show bad boy) Jason Santos for creating buzz in Davis Square.
On Tuesday, Gargoyle’s on the Square was packed as diners watched Santos in Hell’s Kitchen, a kind of Survivor-in-the-kitchen reality show. Santos is one of the final four contestants on the Fox show which drew 7.7 million viewers last week – and he’s made a mark as a reality show character, curling up with a female co-star in a hot tub and delighting viewers with a bold brand of cooking confidence.
Reactions were strong and emotions ran high but Santos survived, to the delight of cheering Gargoyle’s diners watching the show with the star chef.
“This is a social, cultural event for Somerville,” said one Gargoyle’s regular, who insisted the spot was reasonably priced if you catch a special or sign up for the email list.
Somerville needed good news this week – but who knew we’d find one on reality television.
