The LYRICAL got this message from poet Janet Dutcher. “I am a Senior at Endicott College with a minor in English. The inspiration for this poem came from the long winter we had and my desire for a warm summer day at the beach. I hope you enjoy Summer at Singing Beach.”
Summer at Singing Beach
Waves approach with no caution,
slamming into the gentle sand shore.
People flock in the never-ending sun
and warmth. Gliding their feet,
creating a gentle hum.
The beach singing a song,
welcoming people after the long winter.
Staying quiet enough to
let teenagers sneak in at night.
Loud enough for people to gather in the day.
Using its warm sand and loving song
to let people know they are welcome.
The song telling summer not to leave again.
