A reported attempted armed robbery brought police officers to a Chester St. location last Friday night.

The victim reportedly told police that he was robbed at knife point while exiting his vehicle that he had parked in the Day Street parking lot.

The alleged robber, later identified as Christopher McCann, reportedly approached the victim and demanded his car keys. The victim said that he refused to turn over the keys and that McCann then grabbed him and attempted to forcibly take the keys from him.

The victim said that he yelled for help and pushed McCann away, running from the scene.

McCann reportedly chased after the victim, but reportedly could not keep up.

After acquiring a description of the suspect from the victim, and alert was put out and the suspect was subsequently located, reportedly found behind the Citizen’s Bank on Elm St.

The victim reportedly positively identified McCann as the perpetrator of the attempted robbery.

Police reportedly located a box cutter type of knife nearby where McCann was apprehended.

McCann was placed under arrest and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, and assault and battery.
