Sources at City Hall tell us that Janice Delory, longtime chief of staff for Mayor Joe Curtatone is leaving her job for the second time since Curtatone has been in office. Janice, a former School Committee member from Ward 6 and former Fidelity executive, is said to be leaving within a week. Janice was very influential in the mayor’s office. Rumors persist as to why, but it’s widely mentioned that she has had enough. A press release will soon be coming out hopefully giving the reason and who will replace her.

Happy Birthday this week to some of our fans and readers here and around the Ville.  Happy Birthday this week to good old George Landers, a popular guy throughout the city and some would say a great DJ. To attorney and local guy Edwin Smith, what a nice all around guy -always with a smile and great sense of humor- and most of all one of the best attorneys we have here in the city. Happy birthday! And a big “happy birthday” to Melissa Hurley-Sullivan, a very nice lady and also very popular around the city, not to mention married to popular alderman Dennis Sullivan. We wish her the very best and many more.    Another celebrating this week is Caroline Shea Rosas, another nice lady, mother and activist here in the community. We wish her the very best of birthdays as well.

We heard that Vinnie Piro, former state representative, had a severe heart attack while down in Florida at his home. We hope he pulls out of it and recovers and is back on the road to good health. Our prayers are with him. Vinny is a great guy and was a very good state rep here in Somerville for many years who did a lot for the city.

Skip, as he was known to many from Somerville -where he grew up- suffered a stroke in April and went into a coma and never came out. He was a good guy and made many friends both here in Somerville and in the Masonic World. He was a photographer for the Shriners in Wilmington and for many of the lodges as well as King Solomon’s here in Somerville.
