By William Tauro It has been 10 years since the Somerville District Court Probation Department began partnering with substance abuse service-providers in its Court Recovery Program. The program – which organizes eight support meetings a week – began in the probation department under Judge Paul Heffernan and retired Chief Probation Officer Richard F. Carino. In the program, probation officers and therapists from the counseling agencies meet monthly for discussions.

On
the tenth anniversary of the program, Chief Probation Officer Richard
Antonelli thanked probation officers for their help in the program. He
thanked probation staff Brian W. Harris, James Bailey , Damon Banks,
Linda Donovan, John Keefe, Terrence Lee, Maureen T. McCole, Arthur
Sousa and Jessica Grassia.

The Probation Department has
partnered with Arbor Counseling, CASPAR, Somerville Mental Health and
Gavin House to treat local addicts.
