The Jan. 3 ceremony to honor Lorne A. Murphy, known affectionately as “Mr. Murph,” has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 10, and will take place prior to the tip-off of the Somerville High boys basketball team’s home game against Malden.The original ceremony was cancelled due to last week’s snowstorm.

Murphy, 85, died May 25, 2012. He served his country proudly in the Army during World War II. After retirement, he worked for numerous years as a locker room security attendant for Somerville High School. Mr. Murph was a proud member of the SHS Boys Basketball Program for over 30 years.
