Somerville firefighters respond to Pearl St. fire

A fire Saturday, Dec. 28, damaged a single-family home at 196 Pearl St. No injuries were reported.

The fire, believed to be electrical in origin, broke out shortly before 7 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the rear of the house. Fire heavily damaged a first-floor bathroom and was spreading above the bathroom ceiling. Firefighters had to pull open the ceiling as well as a rear wall to stop the spreading flames. Damage is estimated at approximately $50,000.
