The Someday Cafe in Davis Square was robbed at or around 3 p.m. today by a man claiming to have a gun in his soft-pack lunch box.

“He came in and said he didn’t want to hurt anyone, then he asked for the money,” said Gus Rancatore (left), the coffee shop and hangout’s owner.

One of the workers there at the robbery said she told the thief to reconsider. “I told him, ‘Please don’t do this. If you want to rob someone, rob Starbucks.”
