Police responded to reports of a disturbance at CPCU Credit Union on Somerville Ave. last week.

Officers were told by employee witnesses that a man had been in the building and had “flipped out” and caused a good amount of damage before leaving, just prior to police arrival.

According to witness reports, Daniel Tiago, 23, kicked in the bottom glass of the foyer door as he entered the building, then approached one of the employees and began yelling, complaining that she had hung up the phone on him.

The employee explained to police that Tiago had called earlier with questions about his parents’ account. The employee had to put him on hold momentarily, but when she returned to the phone he was no longer on the line.

The Branch Manager noted the commotion and was reportedly concerned that Tiago was frightening the employees.

Tiago reportedly insisted that he would pay for the damaged door, and also that he could buy the bank. Additionally, he reportedly stated that he could fight 100 men.

After this, he reportedly turned and punched a framed picture on the wall, smashing the glass in the frame.

The panic alarm was activated as Tiago emptied his pockets, repeating that he could fight 100 men, and that he could pay.

Tiago reportedly handed an employee his card and left the premises.

Tiago later turned himself in at the Police Station where he was booked on charges of destruction of property over $250 and disorderly conduct.
