Do Blondes have more fun? Poet Tiffany McDonnel ponders this question. She wrote to the LYRICAL: “Poetry was my focus as an undergrad in creative writing; my BA is in English. I did a lot of readings up in Vermont and hosted the WBTN poetry hour; a local radio station for the colleges in the area.”
Blondie
Do you look inside or do you just see my
blonde, blue eyes.
Do you see the pain inside or just know I’m fine because I am
blonde, blue eyes.
Do your eyes turn green as I walk in the room because all you see is
blonde, blue eyes.
Do you anticipate how I talk or judge the way I look just because I am
blonde, blue eyes.
I know that you hate me. You don’t even know me. You hate genetics
because I turned out this way.
Blonde, blue eyes.
How would you feel if every girl, every boy, every woman, every man judged you before you
opened your mouth or tried to better yourself, applied yourself with your
blonde, blue eyes.
