Governor’s Councilor Michael J. Callahan’s June 10 announcement that State Auditor A. Joseph DeNucci had endorsed his bid for the Democratic nomination to succeed the late Charles E. Shannon Jr., to the 2nd Middlesex District state Senate seat is being clarified by DeNucci.

"Mike Callahan has been my dear and decent friend for over 30 years," DeNucci said. "It was a pleasure to be at his recent fund-raising event at the Good Times Emporium. However, as a Democratic statewide constitutional officer, I cannot and will not endorse any candidate in any Democratic primary race.”
