On Saturday, July 6, the City of Somerville honored Somerville resident Theodore “Ted” Buttner by dedicating the corner of Walnut and Boston Streets as Theodore Buttner Square.
Buttner was a World War II Navy veteran stationed at Pearl Harbor. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal.
Buttner was struck and killed in January while crossing in a crosswalk after leaving St. Adelaide Church in Peabody.
