Barrios to moderate Somerville News candidates forum

State SenatorJarrett T. Barrios, D-Cambridge, announced today he will moderate the August 10 forum for candidates seeking the 2nd Middlesex district state Senate seat vacated by the death of Charles E. Shannon Jr.

He said he was honored to be asked to oversee the forum sponsored by the Somerville News and Boston’s Progressive Talk Radio 1430 AM because of the forum’s unique ability to inform voters.

"Campaign debates allow voters to hear from candidates directly about the issues they care most about.

"Having represented the city of Somerville with Senator Shannon I know the potential senators have big shoes to fill and we’re all interested in hearing about their plans for the future.  I’m looking forward to an engaging, thoughtful and civilized discussion," he said.

The Somerville News/Progressive Talk Radio 1430 candidates debate will take place August 10th at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square. Admission is free.
