Mercedesnatalia A new development comes to Assembly Square

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone won’t be taking on the Mystic View Task Force in a no-holds barred, steel cage match, but the wrestling scheduled September 25 at Assembly Square should still be entertaining.
“We had such an overwhelming response to June’s Superslam event we are putting on Superslam 2 at Good Time Emporium,” said Sheldon Goldberg, President of New England Championship Wrestling.

Goldberg said all NECW championships will be on the line that day in Assembly Square.
The card is full of controversy, vendettas and international flavor, said Goldberg.
“In a woman’s title match, Mercedes Martinaa takes on Natalia. The last time these two collided, Natalia viciously attacked Mercedes Martinez after losing to her. This is the first time these two have met since – it is sure to be a wild one,” he said.
Goldberg said the women are nice to look at but, more importantly, they are excellent wrestlers.
“These two women are attractive, but that’s not what this is about. This is about wrestling because that is what they’ll be doing in that ring,” he said.
Also on the card is the comeback of Joe Chece against “The Egomaniac” Johnny Idol. In Cheche’s last bout against Johnny Seine, he was attacked after the fight with a pipe and cut and beaten pretty bad, said Goldberg.
“This is a good test to see if Chece has recovered and continue his career. He is known for being fearless. We’ll find out if he can continue down the comeback trail,” he said.
The night’s activities also include an opportunity for fans to meet the wrestlers and hear their thoughts on what goes on inside that squared circle.
But fans will not have the chance to see representatives of Curtatone, Gravestar Incorporated and the Mystic View Task Force don tight-fitting spandex and wrestle one another other to the mat.
