On May 15, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston held its annual Spring Celebration at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum. The event raised more than $1.3 million to fund the agency’s programs and services that support 200,000 people in need throughout Eastern Massachusetts.
Catholic Charities honored Barbara and Marshall Sloane of Century Bank with the “Justice and Compassion Award” for their extensive philanthropic contributions including their support of social service organizations, nonprofit healthcare providers, and educational foundations throughout the community. Marshall Sloane is the founder of Century Bank and now serves as its Chairman of the Board.
“We are thrilled to have had such a successful gala and are grateful to our generous and committed donors who understand that with their support we can continue to positively impact the lives of the people we serve each and every day,” said Deborah Kincade Rambo, president of Catholic Charities. “This year was particularly special in that we were delighted to be honoring Barbara and Marshall Sloane, who truly exemplify Catholic Charities’ mission of building a just and compassionate society rooted in the dignity of all people.”
More than 500 guests joined Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley, Barbara and Marshall Sloane, and event co-chairs Mike Sheehan, CEO of Hill Holiday, and Linda Sloane Kay and Barry Sloane in celebrating and supporting the diverse work of Catholic Charities. The event featured remarks by Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley and blessings from Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner and Reverend J. Bryan Hehir.
For more than 110 years, Catholic Charities has continued its mission of building a just and compassionate society rooted in the dignity of all people. The agency provides nearly 100 programs and services throughout Eastern Massachusetts. These services respond to the needs of the poor and working poor, provide supportive services to children and families, and assist refugees and immigrants as they become active participants in their communities. Last year, Catholic Charities served more than 200,000 people in need, regardless of faith. To discover more of our work, visit www.ccab.org.
