Election day is here!

Today, November 8, is the day reserved for municipal elections in Somerville. Contested races are: Ward 3 alderman, Lawrence Paolella challenging Thomas F. Taylor, Ward 4 Alderman Walter Pero defending his seat against challenger Christopher Zambuto, Ward 5 Alderman Sean T. O’ Donovan versus John L. Sullivan, and Ward 6 Alderman John M. Connolly versus Rebekah Gewirtz. In the alderman-at-large contest, incumbents William A. White Jr., Denise Provost, Bruce Desmond, and Dennis Sullivan look to return to their seats against challengers Steven A. Glines, Kim Foster Hirsch and Marty Martinez.

School committee races are Ward 5 challenger Mark Niedergang against incumbent Megan Foster, Jim Thomas and Paul Bockelman for Carolyn Taylor’s old Ward 6 seat and Herby Duverne against incumbent Mary Jo Rosetti. All Somerville registered voters are eligible to vote. Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone is opposed by nobody.
