Following the Cleanup, all participants are invited to attend the SomerGreen Festival, sponsored by Groundwork Somerville and Comcast, to be held at the Blessing of the Bay Boat House on Shore Drive from noon to 2:00 p.m. The Festival will feature a community BBQ, opportunities to learn about agricultural and green initiatives, a scavenger hunt and other family-friendly events along the Mystic River.
“We’re excited to be part of this event. We’ll be building, painting, planting, cleaning and more at the Groundwork sites like the South Street Farm. This is a good chance to get in on the ground floor of Urban Agriculture in the City, and you will help Groundwork raise some money just by showing up,” said Executive Director of Groundwork Somerville, Chris Mancini.
The City of Somerville is currently accepting donations for the event, including cleaning supplies, rakes, gloves and garbage bags. For more information about participating in the Clean-Up or making a donation, please contact Anna Ciccariello-Sherwood at 617-625-6600 x 2600.
