Cambridge man arrested for Mr. B’s shooting

    A man who allegedly walked into a Cross St. restaurant and shot a man in the chest, was arrested by Somerville police shortly after the incident occurred Friday.
    Alemshate Gared, 20, of Cambridge, was charged with armed assault to murder after his 2006 Blue Jeep Cherokee was identified leaving the scene of the shooting at Mr. B‚Äôs restaurant Friday night. Police pursued the vehicle until Gared exited and ran to the rear of 60 Alston St.

   Gared then allegedly threw a black handgun over a fence into the backyard of 56 Alston St. before getting caught in a thorn bush and apprehended by police. Gared was positively identified by a witness at Mr. B‚Äôs as the shooter.
    Al Boldazarro, manager of the popular Cross St. bar and restaurant, said he was letting cigarette-smoking patrons into the bar for last call at 12:50 a.m. when a man pushed his way in and fired multiple rounds of gunshots.
    A witness who was not identified in the incident report said the shooter walked over to the rail across from the bar and fired at least two to three shots into a man sitting on a bar stool. Gared then allegedly turned and exited out the front door.
   Police did not report any theft of money or goods from the scene. Robbery did not appear to be a motive.
    Mr. B‚Äôs was open for business the following day.
