Mayor goes to hospital for nasal emergency
By George P. Hassett

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone spent Tuesday night at Cambridge City Hospital recovering from emergency nasal surgery, according to a city spokesperson.
Thomas P. Champion, executive director of communications for the city, said Curtatone went directly from City Hall to the hospital Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. when his nose, which had recently underwent minor surgery, began to bleed profusely.

Curtatone underwent a two hour operation, was admitted to recovery and spent the night in a hospital bed, he said. The surgery was successful and the mayor is resting comfortably, he said. Doctors have not yet made a decision as to when the mayor can return to work.
