Police were dispatched to a Snow Terrace residence last week on a reported instance of breaking and entering at that location.

The female resident complained that her ex-boyfriend had broken in to her home a couple of hours earlier and that the man was now in the parking lot of Rite-Aid on Broadway.

The woman reportedly explained that earlier in the evening she returned home from washing her car to find the man, Michael Crawford, 47, of Cambridge, standing on her front porch with the front door to her home open. She had noticed that Crawford had been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated, police said, and she was concerned because she had known that he was in a program for treatment.

The woman was also afraid because she reportedly saw that Crawford had one of her kitchen knives with him on the front porch, according to reports.

The woman called a family member to help her try to convince Crawford to leave, but when he refused to go she then called police, after which the man vacated the premises.

While the woman was being questioned by police Crawford reportedly returned to the residence, in what officers described as a highly agitated state, insisting on being allowed to reenter the house.

As Crawford was detained outside, the resident of the house showed police the basement door that had been kicked in after someone – presumably Crawford – had gained entry to the basement area via a small window.

Based on the testimony of the resident of the home, Crawford was placed under arrest and charged with felony nighttime breaking and entering.
