Somerville votes no on divestment

Two controversial, non-binding resolutions on the ballot for voters in the 27th Middlesex District were rejected Tuesday.

Question 5, asking the federal government to support the right of all refugees, including Palestinian refugees, to return "home," was defeated. With all precincts reporting, 48 percent of Somerville voted no and 38 percent voted yes. On Question 6, a non-binding resolution seeking divestment from Israel and all those supplying military equipment to Israel, city voters overwhelmingly voted no, with 59 percent rejecting it and 27 percent voting yes. The resolutions were supported by the Somerville Divestment Project (SDP).
