The Somerville Council on Aging’s Annual Christmas Party was held last Wednesday at the Winter Hill Yacht Club in Somerville.
Over one hundred local Somerville seniors attended the holiday event that was hosted by the Winter Hill Yacht Club and Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian, who’s posse of volunteer deputies provided, prepared and served the entire home cooked meal from scratch at the yacht club.
Somerville Police Chief Thomas Pasquarello, as well as elected officials, were at the event where holiday minded seniors filled the banquet room. Santa Claus, aka Alderman Dennis Sullivan, also made his rounds among the crowd in his red suit and long white beard along with Alderman Bill White passing out gifts to the senior guests.
Newly appointed Alderman Maureen Bastardi was welcomed with open arms by seniors at the event as she made her first public appearance as an alderman in the city since being appointed last week.
Somerville Council on Aging Director Cindy Hickey and her staff did a wonderful job planning and setting up the event.
The Somerville Council on Aging Christmas Party has turned into an annual event at the Winter Hill Yacht Club for the past three years and has been a popular and enjoyable hotspot venue to hold the event for the Somerville seniors.
