Local students have sold “hundreds upon hundreds” of Christmas Trees at Foss Park since Dec. 1, said Paul O’Brien, a Somerville teacher who supervises the students.
Next Wave and Full Circle staff and students are finishing another successful year of selling Christmas trees at the corner of Broadway and McGrath this holiday season.

‚ÄúIt‚Äôs a lot of fun but it also feels good to help people out, especially during the Christmas season,‚Äù said student volunteer Derek Memory.
This is the program‚Äôs tenth year, said O‚ÄôBrien. The money raised goes to pay for activities for the Next Wave and Full Circle staff and students, he said. Those activities include ski trips, camping trips, pizza parties and more.
‚ÄúSome money is better than no money,‚Äù said student volunteer Neilly Sosa, who volunteers three days a week and said he enjoys ‚Äúthe workout‚Äù of carrying trees for customers.
Full Circle Director David Willey said there is more happening at the lot than fundraising and tree sales.
‚ÄúFor a lot of the kids this is their first work experience and a way to learn new skills,‚Äù he said.
The students are down to their last trees as the holiday nears, but still some remain. The trees cost between $19 and $39, depending on type and size. Wreaths are for $12.  The tree lot is open Monday to Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on the weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Willey said he is proud of the job the kids have done this year and looks forward to doing it again next year.
‚ÄúEvery year gets better,‚Äù he said.
