Police were called to the corner of Beacon and Dickinson last Thursday on a report of an assault and battery.

Arriving officers spoke with the alleged victim who reportedly told them that after he had parked his car he crossed Beacon St. in the crosswalk, but then was suddenly surprised as a car stopped in the crosswalk and it’s driver, later identified as Junior Dornevil, 23, of Medford, exited the vehicle and began to physically assault him. The alleged victim reportedly said that Dornevil chest-bumped, pushed, and spat on him.

A witness to the incident confirmed what happened next, according to police. He reportedly saw Dornevil get back into his car and gun it towards the alleged victim, who backpedalled to get away from him, and the car was stopped at the curb.

As the witness came to the aid of the alleged victim, Dornevil reportedly drove away.

The alleged victim told police that the car Dornevil was driving had Papa John’s Pizza signage on it and that he placed a call to a Somerville franchise of the store. The alleged victim said that the manager of the store told him that he probably knew who the assailant was but that he preferred to speak only to police about it.

Police then dispatched units to the Papa John’s on Somerville Ave. and located Dornevil, who was reportedly very argumentative and belligerent. According to police, Dornevil was shouting and accusing police of harassing him because they were racist. Dornevil reportedly made threatening gestures and comments not only to police, but also to customers of the restaurant.

Police brought the alleged victim to the store to conduct a show-up identification and Dornevil was positively identified.

Dornevil was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct, assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.
