Police responded to a report of a man threatening people with a shotgun at the Lechmere Car Wash on Washington St. last Friday afternoon.

Upon Arrival, officers detained the reported suspect, Raul Parra, 38.

Several witnesses at the scene   told officers that Parra had made threats while wielding a sword, police said.

One alleged victim reportedly told police that Parra drove up to the car wash bay and asked, “Are you going to move the car?” The alleged victim replied that he had not finished washing his car and a verbal argument began.

The alleged victim further told police that Parra pulled a sword out from behind the seat of his pickup truck and pointed it at him, saying, “If you don’t move there will be a problem.”

The alleged victim moved his car out of the car wash bay as he was afraid of being hurt by Parra, according to reports. Parra then reportedly pulled his truck into the bay and began washing his it. The alleged victim told police that Parra said to him, “I will remember your face,” as he replaced the sword into its sheath and put it back behind the seat of his truck.

Police questioned other witnesses, some of whom reportedly overheard the argument, while some actually witnessed Parra brandishing the sword.

One witness, the 911 caller, told officers that he thought Parra was pulling a shotgun out of his truck. When asked why the witness thought it may have been a shotgun he reportedly told police that it was because of the way it slid out of its sheath.

Parra was placed under arrest and charged with violation of city ordinance possession of a dangerous weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon.
