Girls Soccer

The St. Clement Girls Soccer team improved their overall record to 3-6 by shocking Catholic Central League rival Pope John High School 4 to 1. Sophomore standout Taisha Dupree continued her impressive start to the season scoring two goals. Senior captains Jessie Jepson (Somerville) and Maria Martinez (Medford) each scored a goal as well to pace the anchors. Next up for the girls was Lynn Technical High School. This game was a hard fought game by both teams. Sophomore goalie Krystal Coccimiglio made some phenomenal saves to record yet another shutout. But Krystal would not have been able to do this without the help of sophomore sweeper Amanda Andre (Medford) who was able to hold off almost all of Lynn Techs offensive attacks with a stellar defensive performance. Sophomore Taisha Dupree (Everett) scored the lone goal for the anchors. Unfortunately the Lady Anchors ran into a tough Innovation Charter School to end the week. But the girls are looking to keep improving as they have every week so far this season under the tutelage of veteran coach Kevin Conlin.

Girls Volleyball

The St. Clement Volleyball team improved their record this week to eight and two, by defeating Maimonides and Lowell Catholic. In the Anchordome on Monday, the Lady Anchors swept Maimonides High School three games to none. Not far behind, Sophomore, Jessica Popken (Medford) supplied twelve service points, along with eleven aces. On Thursday, the Lady Anchors hosted Lowell Catholic. Going into the game the Lady Anchors and Crusaders were tied for second place in the league. St. Clement went into the game confident and finished on top, three games to one.

“It truly was a team effort,” Explained Saint Clement head Coach Lisa Regione. On the net, Ofoedu provided nine kills, three strong blocks and had eighteen digs. Freshmen, Katie Monestime (Somerville), had thirteen perfectly placed kills and two blocks. Sophomore, Christina Puccio (Medford), stepped up big by filling the outside hitter position. Seniors, Camilla Souza (Everett) and Captain Judy D’Haiti (Cambridge) gave the Lady Anchors a cushion with breath taking saves and great teamwork. After a strongly played game Saint Clement defeated the Crusaders, and took second place in the Catholic Central League (CCL).

This week the Lady Anchors will travel to Everett to play league rival, Pope John Tigers. Also, on Thursday, Saint Clement will host, first place team, Marian High School, at 4:45 p.m. in the Anchordome. Lisa Regione and the Lady Anchors look to improve their record this week and put themselves in a great spot to take the CCL, as they currently hold a five and one league record. The team is just two games away from clenching a spot in the State Tournament. The girls are excited and look forward to the rest of their season.
