INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS TONIGHT!!!

For the fourth time in as many years, Mayor Curtatone presents the first of two Independence Day celebrations in Somerville – complete with patriotic entertainment by the USO Metropolitan New York performers, the Somerville Sunsetters, and of course, fireworks. Performances begin at 6:30 p.m. in front of Trum Field, capped off with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Festivities are free and open to the public

The following is a list of street closures, parking bans and bus schedule changes:

STREETS (Includes closures and parking bans)

Broadway from Ball Square to Magoun Square:  No parking on either side from 4 p.m. – midnight.  Street closed to traffic from 6 p.m. ‚Äì midnight.

Cedar Street from Morrison Avenue to the Bridge: Traffic will be restricted to local access only from 6 p.m. – midnight.

Cedar Street from the Bridge to Broadway:  Street will be closed to traffic from 4 p.m. – midnight.  No Local Access and no Parking.

Franey Road: Street will be closed to traffic from 4 p.m. – midnight.  No Parking.  The entire street will be restricted to authorized personnel only.

Ryan Road:  Resident access only.  No parking on street from 4 p.m. – midnight.  No access to street from 6 p.m. – midnight.

BUSES (The 80 & 89 buses will be rerouted from 6 p.m – midnight)

Bus 80 from Lechmere will maintain its regular route through Magoun Square, taking a left onto Harvard Street to Warner Street. The bus will pick up College Avenue again at the Powderhouse Rotary and assume it’s regular route.

Bus 80 from Arlington Center will maintain its regular route to Powderhouse Rotary, taking a right onto Harvard Street to Main St. The bus will cross Magoun Square before assuming it’s regular route.
