Approximately 12,000 art lovers showed up in Davis Square on Friday night and into Saturday to help celebrate Art Beat.  Everybody seemed to be there, including many of the elected officials and a handful of political hopefuls that were working the crowd hard.  Everyone had a great time at this popular and successful annual event here in Somerville.

Is it true the two challengers for the Mayors job aren‚Äôt even property owners?  Never paid a property tax bill?  Now we realize its not a priority for running for any office, never mind Mayor, we just thought it unusual – at least the mayor owns a property?

We heard a rumor that Torpedo lady at the DPW is up to a new trick (or maybe not)‚Ķapparently she got caught on personal time during working hours and there was a hearing where she demanded to know why other DPW workers were either smoking or on there cell phones during working hours and why aren‚Äôt they all being bought up on charges like her.  Some are wondering down at DPW why she‚Äôs ratting on everyone – is it to justify her accused violation of time?

The movie Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory will be appearing at the Union Square Plaza on Saturday, July 28th at 7p.m.  The movie will be shown in smell-o-vision.  Real live chocolate aromas will be sitting through the air for an added touch!  If you‚Äôre a chocolate lover you might want to be there.

Former Alderman Kevin Tarpley has been seen in and around Somerville recently…some say he was hanging around to endorse a friend who was running as a candidate and others say that he was just reminiscing old times in the Square with some friends.

We heard that the four incumbent Aldermen at Large – Desmond, Sullivan, White and Connolly – are forming a ‚Äúslate‚Äù for the upcoming election and running as a team.  This isn‚Äôt new to Somerville politics – back in the 1970‚Äôs it was done a few times – and was successful.
