Sources close to City Hall have told us that there is a movement afloat to get rid of another appointee in the Mayor’s office, we hesitate to mention names but last time we said this Mark H. was out of a job.

Meanwhile, at the DPW yards, we hear that ‚ÄúTorpedo Lady‚Äù has been out on ‚ÄúComp‚Äù again for the holidays – this has become somewhat of a ritual we hear – at least for a few years now. Probably needs more time for all those gifts for all the special friends at the union. That‚Äôs what we think but then again we‚Äôre not sure.                                                                          .

Our sympathy goes out to Election Commissioner Nick Salerno and his family – Nick lost his mom Carmella this past week. All who had the pleasure of knowing her will miss Carmella, who has resided in the Ten Hills neighborhood for a very long time Рshe was a very charming lady.

This coming Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. will be the recount between Tony LaFuente and Bruce Desmond  – there should be a small crowd from both camps as well as onlookers and other alderman-at-large candidates. The general consensus is that the outcome will remain the same with maybe a 3-5 vote swing, if at all.

The Somerville High Football team didn’t do as good as last year as they lost to Arlington during the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Game Рthe game was in Arlington this year with Arlington beating our team 36-0 Рthere’s always next year. The team did the best they could.

The Clarendon Hill Towers Tenants Association honored Mayor Joe Curtatone this month by hosting a reception in his honor! The housing complex hired a magician who was on hand entertaining the crowd and Mayor Joe spoke as well as other city officials – we heard a good time was had by all.

Pat Jehlen and Denise Provost want to know, are you worried that your family’s toys and clothes may contain lead and other toxins? Bring your toys and other products to the Somerville Public Library on Saturday from 9:30 to noon to find out. Provost and Jehlen invited the Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow to bring their portable x-ray fluorescence (XRF) meter to the library to examine your kids toys. The meter is held against the product, and an x-ray analyzes and reports the elements in the product within 30 seconds. Sounds cool. Bring vinyl products, jewelry, pillows, cushions and electronics for further inspection.
