The View From Prospect Hill – May 30

The Memorial Day weekend tends to mark the beginning of the high season for travel and vacations for most folks. It’s a great time for seeing old friends, family, new sites and familiar ones as well.

Heading up north for a bit of camping and communing with nature can be one of the most rewarding benefits of living in such a beautiful part of the country. A week or weekend down at the Cape is equally satisfying for many of us.

Local attractions are plentiful, too, and it doesn’t take too long of a journey to find a great spot to picnic, barbecue, or just lay out and soak up the sun. Visiting one or more of the many woodsy reservations and gorgeous coastal spots in our own region can make one feel like they’re living the high life. And they would be.

Let’s face it, when it come to world class quality of life there is little to want for when we live so near these wondrous blessings of nature. It’s always smart to take note of this and take some of it in personally.

Take it easy on the roads, though. Both full-scale vacations and modest outings are meant to revitalize us, not make us into statistics for the evening news. Just be careful out there.

Also, please remember to invite your friends and family to come and see what we have to offer here in the place we love the best. It’s OK to show off when what you’re showing is as deserving of praise and appreciation as our beloved community is. You will likely feel a unique sense of satisfaction knowing that what we have in our own backyards can be so impressive to those from the outside.

Now is the time to prove it.
