An appropriation for $73,200 to outfit 10 new police vehicles has been granted to the Somerville Police. The money will be taken from the Capital Project Stabilization Fund. The vehicles have already been purchased according to Ward 2 Alderman, Maryann Heuston.

Alderman Heuston said that this additional funding was for 10 police vehicles to be “properly outfitted.” This additional cost was not figured into the initial cost for the vehicles. The funds “represent them having the right type of vehicle as well as what they need in terms of interior of the vehicle.” The vehicles are outfitted with lights, sirens, radios and police strength bumpers.
