Join The Bull and Bear, a “financial folk” band for a night of relevant and original music played live from the band’s most-recent album, Recession Sessions. The record highlights the major events of the current global financial crisis. Recently featured on National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition” segment, the band has continued to perform to bring light to effects of the recession on society.

Show begins Thursday, January 12 at 7:30pm at popular Davis Square music venue and restaurant, Johnny D’s. Tickets are $15 at the door. All proceeds from the benefit including album sales will be donated in support of local non-profit, Somerville Homeless Coalition.

“We’re grateful for the support from the band and I’m looking forward to the show, but it’s even more important to be talking – and singing – about issues like the recession,” said Mark Alston-Follansbee, Executive-Director of the Coalition.  “Poor people have been affected more than anyone in this recession and more and more people have been pushed into poverty.  We have to insure that everyone has food and shelter and we need to keep working to find real solutions to these terrible problems.”

The Somerville Homeless Coalition is a non-profit organization committed to ending homelessness and hunger in the Somerville and Greater Boston areas. In 2010, SHC served 1,929 men, women and children. For more information on the Somerville Homeless Coalition, please visit www.shcinc.org or call 617-623-6111.
